Forgive the silly pun, but it is inevitable: Google is bringing in some fresh air.
With a 100 million dollar investment the company will be able to finance the wind power plant project in Oregon, called Shepherds Flat Wind Farm, which will be the largest wind power plant in the world, generating 845MW.
The fact is the Google seems interested in renewable energy, and not in the US alone, but worldwide.
Recently, the company announced the investment of 168 million dollars on thermal solar energy, and has already contributed to the wind, solar and geothermic power industries over 350 million dollars. This insertion of resources into the construction of this new wind power plant was an important step in promoting further investments on wind power worldwide.
The new factory will overcome, according to recent studies, the Roscoe Wind Power Plant in Texas, holding 627 turbines, producing about 781.5 MW. The Shepherds should generate 845 MW with only 338 generators which means each turbine will generate 2,5 MW of energy, twice as much as the other units currently working in Oregon. The project will employ about 400 people and symbolizes a welcome tendency of large companies investing and believing in sustainability. The world thanks you.
